  • At this point, the US media are stating that the dead were Taliban. That is far from certain. They could have been just Afghan farmers or other civilians. That kind of stuff happens routinely.

  • I can only speak personally about 1975 and 1982, but those were far better years than the ones we've had lately. Even in 1949, we had a robust manufacturing sector; same with '75. In 1982, the U.S. was still a creditor nation. We didn't lose that status until '83 or '84.

  • I think the accusers are all after the deep pockets of Penn State and the high school. Several of them know each other, have had plenty of opportunity to get their stories consistent, and will - with the aid of their attorneys - be very convincing on the witness stand.

  • Obviously not a serious assassin; another mental case. To fire two rounds using a close-in/imprecise assault rifle against a fortified building like that, at a range of several hundred yards. Even Jason Bourne couldn't do it.

  • Two contributing factors: A dangerously modified aircraft and an aged, reckless, braggart who took the lives of ten people and seriously wounded dozens of others. A 74 year old has no business flying in that manner. Imagine Brett Favre when he's 74.

  • I'll be 61 in a couple of days and I know there are some things that I could have done decades ago, but cannot do today. It doesn't matter how well I've maintained yourself; physical and mental abilities decline. It's a matter of knowing your limitations. It's the same with driving a car.

  • I've lived in five states (including the cities of Chicago, L.A. and Dallas) and one foreign country (Germany), and I can affirm that the DC area is the worst to drive in. In suburban NoVA, drivers routinely do not stop at red lights when making right turns.
